When a sniper begins shooting down cops from Precinct 87 in cold blood, detective Steve Carella must solve the case. With three cops dead, Carella delves into the city’s underworld in search of the killer.
The book is the first in a series and it’s important to start getting to know the members of the Precinct and watch them grow, age, and develop over the next 25 or so books. They grow up, marry, divorce, die, murder, and solve crime after crime. Police tactics and interactions with citizens, witnesses and criminals also evolved.
