While taking her daily walk with her dog in a remote forest, the woman came across a handwritten note that was carefully pinned to the ground with rocks. Her name is Magda. No one will know who killed her. That’s not me. This is her dead body. She is new to the area, alone after her husband’s death, and she knows no one.
Our narrator imagines who Magda is and how she met her destiny. She devises a list of murder suspects and possible motives for the crime. Her theories begin to find real-world correspondence, excitement and fear grow, the fog of mystery begins to fade into menacing certainty. As her investigation expands, strange disagreements grow more and more, perhaps related to the darkness of her own past. We must face the prospect that there is an innocent explanation for all this or a much more sinister one.
