Hostile Shores/ Alan Lewrie Series, Book 19 – Audiobook Online

Hostile Shores is the 19th novel in the Alan Lewrie series by author Dewey Lambdin.
In 1805, on news of Admiral Nelson’s death, Captain Lewrie’s HMS Reliant participated in a voyage that culminated in the Battle of Cape Town, in which the British wrested control of South Africa from the Dutch. Lewrie headed west to South America, where British attacks on Buenos Aires and other Spanish colonies were also unsuccessful. Soon Lewrie will face a battle at sea that will put his naval career and life in jeopardy.

The main character Alan Lewrie is very likable and not too burdened psychologically. He’s not without his faults, but they’re kind of admirable in an action novel. While I enjoyed this story with its relatively modest backing of gore action, I’m looking forward to reading other books in the series with more engaging content.
