Fish and Wildlife State Soldier Gabriel Hawke encounters an illegal tag hunter. The name on the card belongs to the Wallowa County District Attorney and the man holding the card is not a public attorney.
When Hawke finds out if the DA is damaged, the hunter’s body is found. Joining the DA, Hawke finds he has more suspicions than DA and more deaths than hunters.
This is another great series by a great author. I read the Higheagle series which I really enjoyed. Now the Hawke series is even better. I am interested in Native American mysteries and have read Hillerman, Coel, Box, Chappel and many others. It doesn’t matter which tribe is the center of the book, I love them all. Learning about the Nez Perce tribe through these characters added to my interest and respect for all Native Americans. Read the series. You will fall in love with Gabriel Hawke!
A good story, but with so many characters to keep up with, I had to stop and think a few times. And the line isn’t as easy to follow as it was in previous books.
