Love the Broken Empire Trilogy, I tried Red Sister. This is a well-written coming-of-age story about Nona, as she is taken from the gallows to a convent. Unbeknownst to her unique abilities, she was taught by nuns specializing in combat, magic, and religion. It’s all the girls (including social clicking), learning from their talents, while something sinister is going on within the convent walls, leaving Nona’s group to fend for themselves. I solve the problem.
Red Sister is a fun book, not too dark but certainly not PG either. The setting is quite unique, I’m definitely intrigued and can’t wait to see where it goes. I don’t want to reveal too much about the plot but I will mention one thing that I appreciate. Our hero is not Mary Sue. However, she is very dangerous and quite amazing. Lawrence has done a great job of finding that balance. I was really impressed with Heather O’Neil as the narrator. Along with her beautiful voiceover, she used distinct yet believable voices for each character. I really hope to hear more about her work
