Shifting Tides – Painting the Mists, Book 7, Audiobook Online By: Patrick Laplante

Not all wounds heal. Some scars you keep forever.

Cha Ming has returned from Jade Moon Planet stronger than ever. The Monkey King is back. Huxian’s yōkai collection is an ugly toad. They even took back an entire garden. But life is far from perfect.

Yu Wen, the love of Cha Ming’s life, is dead. He swore to find her in the cycle of reincarnation. To do that, he must journey to the city of Haijing to heal his core. Little does he know that the ancient underwater empire is pivotal in the struggle between angels and demons.

Meanwhile, Wang Jun has returned from a long exile. His influence in the Golden Leaf City has waned. He must rebuild it against his corrupt family. It could cost him anything; including his own soul.

I love this book, and the series. If you’re just hearing about cultivation and fighting then it’s certainly not your thing. However, if you are like me and excited about the story, the struggles of the characters, their tenacity, the beautiful writing and how it can relate to what we go through and deal with in our lives. In daily life, this is art, very beautiful.

The story picks up speed and regains some of the consistency of the first books. However, it contains many parts that are just empty jargon for adding words, which is very annoying; Pushing forward, they won’t add anything to the story, but the ending is worth the unacceptable babble.
