Fun, captivating, and utterly irresistible new novel from the author of the super bestseller The Single Ladies of Jacaranda Retirement Village.
At nearly 90 years old, retired nature writer Hattie Bloom prefers the company of birds to people, but when a fall sends her into a nursing home, she struggles to cope with the loss of her independence. private and private. From the confines of the ‘room with a view’ to the parking lot, she dreams of escaping.
One ‘inmate’, gregarious comedian Walter Clements, also plans to return home as soon as he is healthy and able to operate his mobile scooter.

Full of wisdom and warmth, The Great Escape from Woodlands Nursing Home is a wonderfully poignant, hilarious story that shows that it’s never too late to laugh – or to love.
A great story. This book just jumped straight up my favorites list. The story and the characters are interesting and told in a way that is an important lesson for all of us. I hope we all find our own Sister Bronwyn when it’s our turn.
