Arthur White lived a simple life, tending to the dead in a quiet cemetery, until meeting a mysterious stranger known only as Mr. Black. In a few short hours, the stranger turned the landkeeper’s life upside down, causing Arthur to suffer a heart that worked like an immortal clock.

For many years, Arthur worked as Lord Black’s right-hand man, doing things the old wizard couldn’t get his hands on. The death of a mutual friend and the discovery of Lucifer’s severed heart spur them to action, starting a global chase to recover the artifact and open the door to death.

Along the way, Arthur struggles with the evil he has committed, the dreams of loss that haunt him, and the desperate loneliness that can be cured by the arrival of a new companion. Mystery, Ava. But before they can understand each other, they must confront a cult that steals hearts for their own purposes.

Before ending, Arthur, Ava and Mr. Black will have to face who they are and what they’ve done, or perish in a brutal new world. Whatever remains from the ashes may be their only hope.

Obviously there is a good article here. Some great pictures and ideas. But this set of words in no way represents a book. Prose poses as if it were Poe, Jacobs Ladder, Dante, Blue Velvet or Altered States. In fact, it is considered a collaboration between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Cybil writing an episode of Twin Peaks.
