I love the sense of adventure in this story – about an estranged family reunited on a single If you’re gearing up for spring break, be sure to include a copy of this delightful audiobook and follow along with Reese’s Book Club!” (Reese Witherspoon)

When Charlotte Perkins, 70, submitted a voluptuous essay for the “Becoming a Jetsetter” contest, she dreamed of reuniting her estranged children: Lee, an almost famous actress; Cord, a handsome venture capitalist in Manhattan, can’t seem to find a bride; and Regan, a cranky mom, went wrong when Charlotte bought her a Weight Watcher gift card for her birthday. Charlotte longs for the years when her children were young and she was a single mother that meant a lot to them.

When she won the excursion, the whole family packed all of their luggage – literally and figuratively – and spent 10 days traveling from sun-drenched Athens through glorious Rome to tapas-filled Barcelona on a boat. unsurpassed cruise ship, Splendido Marveloso. As old and new lovers join the adventure, long-buried secrets are revealed, and the Perkins family are forced to face decisive life choices.

Can the four lost adults find the peace they’ve been searching for by reconciling their childhood pains and getting back together. Following the vein of The Nest and The Vacationers, Ward has crafted a gripping and intelligent novel about the courage it takes to reveal who we really are, the joys and dangers of family, and how we navigate the ocean of adulthood – we can only hope – towards joy.

Nice story about family troubles and how long the effects last. A complicated story about family dynamics. Charlotte and Winston’s children all suffered as they grew up but all seem to find their way at the end of life.

I find this very interesting.
