The Lincoln Lawyer / A Lincoln Lawyer Novel, Book 1, Audiobook Online By: Michael Connelly

The best-selling legal thriller – and CBS drama – features charismatic defense attorney Mickey Haller taking on a slam-dunk case involving a Beverly Hills playboy – but when it turns into a frenzy nightmare, he finds himself fighting for his life.

Mickey Haller is a Lincoln Attorney, a criminal defense attorney operating in the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, commuting between the distant courts of Los Angeles defending every type of client. Cyclists, con artists, drunk drivers, drug dealers – they are all on Mickey Haller’s client list. For him, the law is rarely about guilt or innocence, but about bargaining and manipulation. Sometimes it’s even about justice.

A Beverly Hills playboy arrested for assaulting a woman he picked up at a bar chose Haller to defend him, and Mickey got his first high-paying client in years. It’s the defense attorney’s dream, what they call the franchise case. And when there is more evidence, Haller believes this may be the easiest case of his career. Later, a close friend of his is murdered, and Haller discovers that his quest for chastity has led him to confront evil as pure as a flame.

To escape without getting burned, he must deploy every tactic, lure, and instinct in his arsenal – this time to save his own life.

Typical Connelly. He took us around the city, showing us the best and worst of it, possibly the best and the worst of our own. The “justice” system is a complicated and dark place to get stuck. Either innocent or guilty. It would be great if the innocent were all free and all the guilty got the dessert they deserve, but sadly, that’s never going to happen. Connelly shows us how innocent the guilty can be and how poorly the system really works. I love it.

I am an avid listener of Michael Connelly’s books and this is his best book. I find myself sitting in the car after long trips just to hear some more of this piece. This book was so hard to get out, I’m so glad I didn’t read it in book form, I would never have slept. I’m also a huge fan and this is as good as any of his Law of Suspense novels. Connelly does a great job building the character and never disappoints with her ending.
