The second of six books about a sci-fi apocalypse for young people. I have read the well-printed and sturdy commercial paperback published by Delacorte Press in 2011. I have purchased the next three books in this series from Big River and am currently reading the third.
I watched the excellent movies made with the first three books in the series a few years ago and finally decided to read these. The first movie is pretty faithful to the first book with Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf) playing Thomas.
The basic premise is that the Sun went mad and burned the Earth in an event called the Flame, killing almost everyone on Earth. And then a man-made virus spreads through the rest, killing many of them and driving most of the survivors crazy. A group of children wake up in a clearing surrounded by a giant maze filled with dangerous creatures and learn to survive in very difficult situations.
