Beholden is the second literary fiction book in The Salvation Series by author Corinne Michaels.
These two novels really sucked me in and I couldn’t even function as an adult until I finished both of those novels. Corinne writes these beautiful stories that get you hooked on the characters, you hurt when they hurt, you laugh when they laughed.
Catherine has witnessed two of the men she loves most in the world let her down and leave her: her father and her fiancé. After finding out her fiance slept with her friend, she decided to give up on love. Sometimes love finds you even when you’re not looking for it and it literally drops you into someone’s lap. Jackson was fascinated by Catherine from the moment she fell into his lap.
These two stories take you on an emotional adventure of loving yourself and each other. Catherine struggles with her confidence and believes she is good enough for a man. Even though Jackson had treated her better than any man, she couldn’t believe he would stay. Jackson went through a lot of traumatic things while in the military that affected him on a daily basis. And when tragedy puts him in the middle of things, it can cost him his life or his relationship.
