The day Homeira Qaderi gave birth to her son Siawash, the road to the hospital in Kabul was barricaded because of a suicide bombing.
The city and the army are near, an armed soldier points a gun at the pregnant woman’s swollen belly, fearing that she is hiding a bomb. Frightened and in pain, forced to walk, Homeira stepped through blood and rubble to the hospital door, motivated by the love she had for her soon-to-be child. But her joy over her handsome son was soon overshadowed by other dangers that would threaten her life.
