Piemur was the first to befriend Menolly when she arrived at Harper Hall. Masterharper declares Piemur his own apprentice and assigns him to drum peaks to learn how to read drum codes. However, the other apprentices disliked him, especially since Piemur learned the codes faster than them and found ways to make them dislike.
Piemur’s trials and tribulations as he walks the line try to avoid confrontation with his fellow apprentices, while at the same time doing his best for Master Robinson.
