Imp Forsaken is the fifth love story in the Imp series by author Debra Dunbar.
Sam is banished to Hel, and her bond with her angel, Gregory, is broken. The six Elven kingdoms are fighting for supremacy, and she’s broken and wounded in the midst of one of the most hostile. Shooting down the throne, committing fraud when fulfilling a contract, and threatening a high lord didn’t make the elves endearing to her either. She wants to free the slaves they are holding, she will need to find a way to help unify their kingdom. But goblins aren’t the only problem Sam faces. The ancient demon, Ahriman, is binding her to the terms and conditions of the livestock contract she signed – and a thousand years under his claws seems to be the scariest thing about Hel.
Sam is one of my favorite characters of all time, with her creator, Debra Dunbar, being in my top ten authors. Dumas, Atwood, and, Dickens are also in my list; so, she is listed with some very heavyweight writers. IMHO, quite deservedly so.
Why am I so enamored by her works? Because, she has the ability to entertain and amuse, while creating and moving very unique, well-penned plots. She’s developing and growing her characters with finesse, conveying information based on solid research without pausing the action, and does this all with great wit. I think that she hits each area a writer should strive for, and I hope to see her works get the laudatory praise in bestselling in print.
