When I was growing up, being able to read a mystery book by Agatha Cristie was an achievement for a boy my age (8 years old).
The mystery part is always interesting and cleverly executed and one feels gratified to be a reader of the story.
Alex Gray’s characters with Inspector Lorimer, his wife, and his agents as they unravel the crimes of each story go beyond Christie in that sense. I like all of her books the most that I have read.
All set in the Scottish countryside with expats we can easily relate to. There are no social shafts to sharpen, or prejudices to flaunt, only great stories that are told well and enjoyed. I encourage her to be read.
