Pretty Reckless is the first love story in the All Saints High series by author L.J. Shen.
We were considered best friends….

But it turned out to be the worst enemy.

They say revenge is a dish best served cold.

I’ve had four years to ponder what Daria Followhill has done to me, and now my heart is completely frozen.

I took her first kiss.

She took the only thing I hold dear.

I’m poor.

She is rich.

The good thing about the situation? They can change. Fast.

Now, I’m her parents’ latest brilliant project. Her housemate. Her abuser. The captain of the rival team that she absolutely hates.

Yeah, baby girl, say it – I’m your foster brother.

There was a price to pay for ruining the only good thing in my life, and she was about to burst into serious tears.

Daria Followhill thinks she’s the queen. I’m about to prove to her that she’s nothing but a spoiled princess.

Everyone loves a nostalgic, classic punk.

But a bitch? Oh, you’ll be stoned for every silly comment, cynical eye roll and action that gets in your opponent’s way.

The problem with stilettos is that they make a terrible indentation when you pass people trying to hurt you.

In Penn Scully’s case, I stabbed his heart until he bled, then dumped it in the trash on a glorious summer day.

I’ve seen this book on a lot of “Read What Next” lists, however I didn’t want to read it because honestly, I don’t want to read about children having sex. Obviously I gave in and gave it a chance and I’m glad I did. I will start by saying that the author is very talented. She found a way to tell a story that makes you laugh, hold your breath, sit on the edge of your chair and fumble to the next page at the same time. I’m a fan of Penn and his struggles and find Daria a bit annoying. Reading it over and over made me nervous, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the book was much more interesting than two teenagers rubbing against each other. I already liked the book enough, but I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if I was still in high school or closer. In my 30s, I’m probably not the right demographic, but I think this author has a lot to offer and I’m looking forward to reading it.
