Ruined Memories – Audiobook Online

Ruined Memories – Rim Confederacy, Book 7, Audiobook Online By: Jim Rudnick

When a ship of refugees begs to the Baron’s kingdom for help, Lady St. August was pleased to offer refuge and the Baron’s captain, Tanner Scott of Atlas, would provide such assistance.

In doing so, he learns about the truth behind the refugees and why they are on the run from something that seems to be coming to RIM, the invaders!

While Atlas studies refugees in detail, the RIM Alliance Council and its leaders found that providing that refugee status, and shelter, could be a process that would take RIM into war.

With Admiral McQueen and his flagship at the helm, the RIM Navy calls on its member kingdoms to add more ships to the task force tasked with defeating the invaders and to plan the best. All of them failed, except for Captain Scott’s reliance on what he called his combat insurance. While the invaders do not communicate, they appear to have superior technology and use it to try to win. Only Captain Scott’s plan can work… or will it work?

I love Jim’s stories. They stand alone but they also fit very well in the Rim series. They are full of action and have an unusual and flawed protagonist. Just the type of guy you want to drink beer with…except he can’t drink anymore.

Like the rest of the series, Ruined Memories is a great gamble through a fascinating RIM universe created by Mr. Rudnick. This installment of the series brings together some of the storylines from the previous books and hints at the future for the intriguing Captain Scott. While the dialogue is a bit awkward at times, my biggest complaint is that the end of each book comes too quickly at less than 200 pages. But overall, this series is the one I’ve recommended to some friends who are interested in an interesting balance of military action with political intrigue.
