Sleep with the Lights On – Free Full Audiobook

Sleep with the Lights On is the first mystery novel in the Brown and De Luca series by author Maggie Shayne.
Through the eyes of a killer…

Rachel de Luca has achieved incredible success writing self-help books. But her own blindness and the disappearance of her troubled brother convince her that positive thinking is nothing but bullshit. Her skepticism wavered when a corneal transplant restored her vision. The new eyes seem to give her a new life, until they prove they’re too good to be true and she begins to see terrifying images of brutal murders – the crimes she soon learned were all too real.

Detective Mason Brown’s brother recently died, leaving behind a terrible secret. To atone, Mason donated his brother’s organs, although he kept quiet. He wants to help Rachel find her brother, but when he discovers a shocking connection between her vision and his brother, he suddenly has to do everything in his power to save her. her from a predator that is somehow still hunting from beyond the grave.

The story is quite interesting, a blind woman can see again after new corneal surgery. However, she is then haunted by images of murder and death. This is a book that starts well and interests me especially in the first half. However I didn’t find the second half of the book as good, but I read it to the end. I also don’t like reading the book in the first person, the writer seems to be much better at describing parts of the book written in the third person. Overall a good read, but not as good as some of the reviews give.

This is a mystery thriller bordering on science fiction with just a hint of probable reality in the premise used, so be prepared to pause your judgment. I absolutely love the brave heroine and the very handsome cop protecting her and of course they fell in love right. How well this is handled so as not to turn me off even though it is predictable. I would love to read more of her books that have these two characters in them and can recommend this one as long as you’re not looking for anything realistic either.
