The Jedi Society is in crisis. The shocking transformation of the late Jacen Solo into the murderous Sith Lord Darth Caedus created a terror among those using the Force for good:

The Two Jedi Knights succumbed to the disorder. mentally dangerous and inexplicable, criminal charges have driven Luke Skywalker into self-exile, and the power-hungry Führer Natasi Daala is exploiting anti-Jedi sentiment to weaken the Order’s influence in Galactic Alliance.

Forbidden to interfere in Jedi affairs, Luke is on a desperate quest to uncover the truth behind Jacen’s fall into the dark – and find out what turned the moderate Jedi into lunatics, madness. But finding the answers will mean venturing into Kathol Rift’s mind-bending space and negotiating with an alien species capable of exterminating aliens as well as dealing with them. However, there was no other choice and no time to lose, as the catastrophic events on Coruscant continued to escalate.

Stricken by the intense dementia that has infected her brother, Valin, Jedi Knight Jysella Horn faces an equally grim fate after she is captured by Natasi Daala’s police. And as Han and Leia Solo narrowly defeated another deranged Jedi seeking deadly destruction, even the Jedi’s Grand Master Kenth Hamner in action seemed ready to bow to Daala’s iron will – at a cost pay the Jedi Society.

But an even bigger threat looms. Millennia ago, a Sith spacecraft crashed into an unidentified low-tech planet, stranding the survivors. Over the generations their numbers have increased, the ways of the dark have been nurtured and the time is fast approaching when this lost Sith will once again ascend to the stars to reclaim their destiny, their legend as rulers of the galaxy. Only one thing stood in their way, a name whispering to them through the Force: Skywalker.

This is my favorite series because it explores power on a pseudo-religious level. Evil immortal entities with terrifying power and malice, revelations about the core concepts of the sw universe in general are quite basic (undisclosed). And if that’s still not enough, you really can’t do better than Marc Thompson for the narrator position.

I can’t get four and a half stars so I’ve rounded up. But the book is very good. I actually enjoyed it more than being outcast. Mainly because I feel like the Kessel part slows the story down and I haven’t seen much more than that and the adventure starts from there. Anyway, I found this book interesting for the most part, admittedly partly due to my preference for siths.
