The Black Witch / The Black Witch Chronicles, Book 1 – Audiobook Online

The Black Witch / The Black Witch Chronicles, Book 1, Audiobook Online By: Laurie Forest

A Great Winged One will soon appear and cast his terrifying shadow over this land. And just as Night kills Day, and Day kills Night, another Black Witch will also rise to meet him, her power far beyond imagination.

So heralds the greatest prophecy of the Gardnerian magicians. Carnissa Gardner, the last Black Witch to be prophesied, repelled the enemy and saved her people during the War of the Kingdoms. Now, a new evil is on the horizon, and her granddaughter, Elloren, is said to be Carnissa’s heir—but while she’s the absolute image of her famous grandmother, Elloren is completely absent power in a society that values magical abilities above all else.

When given the chance to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an apothecary, Elloren eagerly joins her brothers at the prestigious University of Verpax and eventually embraces her own destiny, escaping the shadow of her grandmother’s legacy. But she soon realizes that the College, which hosts everyone — including the winged, fire-wielding Icarals, the arch-enemy of all gardeners — is an even more dangerous place, than the niece of the Black Witch.

Absolutely amazing. Fascinating characters, perfect world-building, the story is so important to America’s current political climate. On top of that, the narration brought everything to life perfectly. I don’t want it to end.

Honestly, I hate the main character. She is shallow, flat, and openly hostile. UNTIL… You find yourself attracted. Be attracted. At the edge of your seat. Layers peel off layer by layer. You grow up with her and are thrilled to see what happens next. Extraordinary. I can’t wait for the next book.
