The Flesh Tearers Audio Collection – Audiobook Online

The Flesh Tearers Audio Collection is a series of short stories set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, written by Andy Smillie and C.Z. Dunn. The collection follows the story of the Flesh Tearers, a brutal Space Marine chapter known for their ferocity in battle and their tendency to succumb to the Red Thirst, a genetic flaw that makes them prone to bloodlust.

In the first story, “Sanctus Reach,” the Flesh Tearers are sent to the Sanctus Reach to defend human settlements from an invading Ork horde. But when their commander is killed, his successor must deal with both the Ork threat and the treacherous politics of his own chapter.

In “Cull,” the Flesh Tearers are sent to investigate a world that has gone silent, only to find it overrun by Tyranids. As they fight to survive, they must also confront the machinations of a rival chapter. In “The Artisan of Flesh,” the Flesh Tearers investigate a distress signal from a research facility, where they discover insane geneticists experimenting on humans, including members of their own chapter.

Finally, in “The Emperor’s Judgement,” the Flesh Tearers are put on trial for their brutal tactics in battle. But when chaos forces them to defend themselves and their accusers, they are forced to confront the truth about their own nature and the cost of their loyalty to the Emperor. Throughout the collection, the Flesh Tearers are depicted as savage and sometimes uncontrollable, but ultimately loyal to the Imperium and willing to sacrifice everything for its defense. The stories explore themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the cost of war in the grim darkness of the far future.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the dark angels but the rippers speak to my soul. I listened to this collection at least 9 times along the way. In every word of the tearers, you can hear the rage, the desire for violence even in casual conversation.

Definitely one of the better written Warhammer 40k novels. The Flesh Tearers is a chapter torn in two – their dark violent secret on one side and the noble lineage of Sanguinus on the other. Read how they walk on that line and go back and forth, it’s amazing. Can’t recommend enough.
