While the story isn’t the kind of mystery where you find yourself constantly trying to solve it and being suspected character after character as the bad guy, it’s more of a mystery story where you get to experience it. via. It’s quite entertaining and the narration is great. It’s not too suspenseful but just an interesting, well-told story.
I enjoyed this story and the characters! It ends well and it feels complete. Lots of mystery and adventure! I like how it connects an object with the present and the past. I would be happy to do more research at the end of the descendant and add more to the story!
I am quite confused by the negative reviews about this book. I love it! It has history, magic, and lively characters – one of them is at a crossroads and choosing to reinvent himself. The story is very pro-women, and that alone would get my approval. No, there’s no big mystery to solve, no tons of clues to put together or a big twist. Instead, the enjoyment lies in the story of three strong women and how their stories connect across space and time. Narrative is top notch. Obviously it’s not for everyone, but I love it.
